Enjoy a conversation with the erudite Xanthe Dobbie. Xanthe will speak their works Cloud Copy and The Long Now currently showing in their exhibition Cloud Copy at Lismore Regional Gallery. Cloud Copy and The Long Now were commissioned by University of Queensland Art Museum and Australian Centre for the Moving Image respectively.
Xantheβs work is steeped in humour, pop, sex, queer theory, history and iconography, their works are shrines to a post-truth era. This is sure to be a dynamic discussion. Donβt miss it.
Xanthe Dobbie is an Australian artist living and working on the unceded lands of Naarm, Melbourne. Dobbie works across on- and offline modes of making, their expanded collage practice weaves together the old and the new to speak to potential futures. They have exhibited extensively with recent works, including experimental live-streamed theatre, interactive media, AR, VR, performance, and installation. In 2021, Xanthe developed new commissions for the Sydney Opera House, Munch Museum, Bundoora Homestead, and UQ Art Museum. In 2022, they worked on major projects for presentation at the RISING Festival, The Museum of Contemporary Art, ACMI, and Grafton Regional Gallery. Dobbie is undertaking a PhD focusing on digital and interactive art at RMIT University.
