This International Women's Day, we celebrate the incredible contributions of women through the idea of shared narratives, with guest artist Veronica Rojas Nuñez. While we collage, Nuñez will share stories of her greatest female influence - her mother.
My mother's life's work was to identify and reconstruct ancient Pre-Colombian textiles. This work was so important for the history of South America; it informed generations to come of the rich history of indigenous heritage, an artifact of storytelling.
Inspired by these textiles, Nuñez will bring the technique of weaving strands of paper, puzzle piecing, and creating a palette through collage that may resonate with the participants' surroundings, landscape or emotional connections. There will be an emphasis on using memory, daydreaming and imagination.
