My childhood occurred against this backdrop of the ever-present floral motif on frocks, carpets and curtains. Flowers are an intrinsic part of my familial upbringing, acting as portals recalling significant moments of my lived history.
Last night I dreamt of banksias is a grouping of pulp-paintings, produced from recycled clothing, in honour of that memory of my mother. The imagery was inspired by the works of Margaret Preston’s banksias.
