The Lismore Italians Public Art Project
Lismore’s living Italian history
The Lismore Italians Public Art Project is a joint initiative between Lismore Regional Gallery and the Lismore Italian community. Over the next few years we will consult with our local Italian community to document the history, diversity and creativity that the Italian community have brought to Lismore. Once documented, an artist will work with the community to create a public artwork next to the soon to be built Margaret Olley Art Centre. The Olley Art Centre and the Italian public artwork will be located at the old Lismore High School site, Keen Street, Lismore city.
Annie Perin, Silvina Bravin, Antonietta Pagotto, Ida Ros, Ellie Gava and Luciana Trojer are proud of Lismore’s rich Italian history and multicultural community spirit and invite members of the community to submit ideas and images that will inform this artwork. All members of the community are welcome to participate.
The public artwork will reflect the heritage of the Italian community in Lismore and draw from historical records, photographs and memories. The public artwork will stand as a monument of Lismore’s living Italian history.
